How to optimize the sorting of supermarket shelves
Mar 27 , 2025Optimizing the stocking process on supermarket shelves can significantly improve operational efficiency, reduce shrinkage, improve customer experience and increase sales. The following are specific optimization strategies, covering display, replenishment, inventory management, etc.:
1. Display optimization: enhance customers’ desire to purchase
Utilization of prime areas
-Shelf height stratification:
- Gold layer (eye level layer, about 1.2~1.6 meters): place high-profit products, new products or promotional items.
- Middle floor: Place frequently purchased items (such as necessities).
- Bottom floor: place large packages, low-margin or children's products (easy for children to take).
- End racks (both ends of the shelf): used for promotional items or seasonal merchandise to attract attention.
2. Related displays
- Place related products nearby (e.g. toothbrushes next to toothpaste, snacks next to beer) to stimulate co-consumption.
- Place condiments or semi-finished dishes (e.g. black pepper sauce next to steak) near the fresh food section.
3. Visual management
- Use price tags or promotional signs of the same color to avoid confusion.
- Keep products facing outwards and labels aligned to avoid the "hole effect" (fill the gap in time).
